A Brief Introduction To Our Church

Welcome. We are a small, but growing church in the tradition of the Reformed Baptists and the Puritans located in Riverside, California. Presently we are meeting in a home while we wait on the Lord to provide us with an opportunity to move. However, while we meet in a home, we do not share the theological ideology of the modern house church movement. Our fellowship began when Pastor Ian Adams felt a call to start a Bible-study group that emphasized Biblical principles rather than those more worldly ideas being espoused in many churches today. It is our position that modern evangelical and fundamental Christianity has drifted far afield of truly Biblical Christianity and only a return to more historic expressions of the Christian faith will rescue the modern church. Over the past few years it has become more and more obvious to our fellowship that the teachings commonly espoused as Reformed and Baptist are those most precisely in agreement with what the Scriptures teach. Therefore we have accepted the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith as that statement of truth that most clearly reflects the doctrinal teachings of the Bible.

What We Teach

Briefly, we teach that God is sovereign in all things and especially in salvation. That salvation is a gift of God by His grace. And that a man is saved only when God calls him to repent and place His faith in Jesus Christ. We teach without exception the inerrancy and infallibility of the Holy Bible. It is our absolute, final, and only rule in all matters. As the Bible is God's source of divine revelation to us it is worthy of daily, life-long study. The teachings that God has imparted to us through His Word are known as Bible doctrines. We cannot overemphasize the importance of Biblical doctrine for it is through the teachings and application of Scripture that we come to be inwardly transformed as God has commanded us. But we must clarify- Bible doctrine is not the same as church doctrine. All too often church doctrine is clouded by man-made rules and misguided attempts to amplify or change what God has said in His Word. Bible doctrine on the other hand comes from one source only- Scripture! As Paul has taught, true doctrine is essential for Christian growth and false doctrine destroys the church.
