What we believe
Grace Covenant Baptist Church is in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith as the clearest expression of the essential doctrines of the Bible.
Summary of our beliefs
- We believe in the inspiration, inerrancy, and authority of the Bible; that it is the only authority for all matters of faith; that as divine revelation it is the only source for the knowledge of God; that it is through the truths contained in Scripture that we learn God's will for our lives; that nothing may be added to, or subtracted from, the Holy Scriptures.
- We believe in the absolute sovereignty of God over all of creation; that there is only one God, who exists in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; that each is equal in power and glory and that each is the same in substance.
- We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His substitutionary death, and His physical resurrection.
- We believe in the present rule of Jesus Christ in heaven and His future return to judge the world and establish His everlasting kingdom.
- We believe that salvation is a gift by the grace of God alone, on the basis of the atoning sacrifice of Christ, and wholly apart from any human merit.
- We believe that the only valid answer to the many evils in present-day human society is to be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is "the power of God unto salvation to everyone who truly believes it"; that God commands all people to repent and to believe the gospel.
- We believe that the church is composed solely of repentant and believing sinners who confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and submit to His rule and authority as set forth in the Holy Scriptures.
- We believe that the regulative principle should govern worship within the Church and conduct our services accordingly.
- We believe that Christians have the solemn obligation to conduct themselves at all times in a manner worthy of the gospel they profess to believe.
- We believe that Christians are responsible for the evangelistic spreading of the gospel to the ends of the earth.
